Guitar Hero and Rock Band have created a true international phenomenon. The two titles combined have made near one billion dollars. Seriously. Billion. That’s a lot of games sold, and lot of rock heroes living the pretend dream.
Enter Guitar Geek. This is a game that lets you live the fun of simulated guitar action without a console system and hundreds of dollars in game and peripherals.
The game doesn’t have the graphical bells and whistles of Guitar Hero, but… let’s be realistic here, people. It’s Flash. And for Flash to play nice with a wide variety of systems, it has to be a little scaled back sometimes on the graphic front.
What it does have is fun tracks and a solid control scheme. You have only four notes to worry about. You play them using the ASDF, 1234 or HJKL keys on your keyboard. Your score is based on how long you can go without making an error and how precise your timing is.
There are four difficulty levels - easy, medium, hard and geek. Geek doesn’t feel quite as tricky as expert does in Guitar Hero, but it’s enough to keep you glued to the screen and typing furiously on your keyboard to rock out.
