Alex Gordon is a solid side-scrolling platformer for all ages. Well… maybe not for all ages. Mostly for the younger ages… but that’s actually its strongest selling point.

Most platformer games are too tricky for young gamers. They depend too much on small characters making tricky and dexterous maneuvers to get through each level. Alex Gordon, however, deals with those issues by giving games large characters, forgiving controls, wide platforms and very slowly expanding gameplay elements.

There is a new trend in flash-based gaming. Download gaming has task management, hidden object and tile swapping games. The web has catapult games, tower defense games, word scrambles games and your Mom (I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean, either).

But the hot new thing these days seems to be a sort of tug-of-war combat game. This game style features two opponents squaring off at opposite ends of a battlefield. Battle is real-time and is accomplished by simply queuing up units (like you would in a real-time strategy game) to be sent forward into battle. If they meet enemy units, they battle. If they don’t they march right into enemy territory and either do damage to a structure, or just plain win by claiming that territory. You see a lot of these around now.

One of the originals, though, is surely Warlords. (6,000,000 plays on Kongregate alone? Yeah, that’s a juggernaut)

If you tell me that you do not love The Princess Bride, then I can only assume you have not read the book or seen the movie. There’s no other conclusion to come to. To adapt a famous quote, saying you don’t like The Princess Bride says a lot more about you than it does about the movie.

Okay, enough of me telling you that you love The Princess Bride (because you DO), The Princess Bride Game is… you guessed it… a game based on the beloved book and film.

How is that I’ve managed to go all this time without covering Monster’s Den? It’s criminal, I tell you.

I think it’s been fairly well established that I enjoy a good old school RPG experience. Well, then it should be no surprise that I quite enjoy Monster’s Den. The game is a totally stripped down RPG experience. You create a party, hit a dungeon and you crawl. Dungeon-crawl, that is.
